Himachal CM inaugurates Swamitva Yojana, distributes property cards

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the Swamitva Yojana on Friday by distributing property cards under the scheme in a ceremonial event.

The initiative, led by the Revenue Department, aims to provide title cards to villagers occupying land in Abadi Deh areas. The Chief Minister handed over property cards to 10 families each from 11 tehsils, with over 4,230 families from 190 villages to receive their cards in the first phase.

Sukhu pointed out that the main objective of Swamitva Yojana is to grant property rights to land owners in Abadi Deh areas by significantly facilitating their access to official land documents. The implementation of the scheme involved drone-assisted mapping in 13,599 out of 15,196 Abadi Deh villages in the state, with the Indian Survey Department providing first-level maps for 6,314 villages.

Sukhu said Hamirpur district has set a national precedent by being the first to grant these property rights. Efforts were made to streamline the operations of the Revenue Department, including amendments to the Land Revenue Code and the processing of 1.57 mutation cases within six months.

The chief minister also asked wealthy citizens and hoteliers to give up government subsidies to support the state’s self-reliance. He also laid the foundation stone for a new Excise and Taxation Department colony and inaugurated the Bharari-Nandhan-Plassey road.
