In many ways Unirea it is a true love letter to the working class. Wahlberg gets to use his construction site skills to keep him alive on his mission. he said BOSSIP his vision for the film was partly inspired by his upbringing.

“I’m a blue-collar guy, my dad was a truck driver, I worked as a bricklayer and a tow truck driver and all that stuff,” Wahlberg explained to BOSSIP. “How the idea started was me and my production partner sitting around talking about wish-fulfillment and ‘How cool would it be to have a blue-collar James Bond?’ Would it be something people would want to see? We released it and people liked the idea and we were able to make the film.”

We’re guessing we’re probably not the only ones excited to see Wahlberg and Berry together for the first time, despite being friends for over two decades.

“I think the first time I met her I was maybe 18 or 19, yeah?” Wahlberg said BOSSIP. Dreams come true! Let’s just say this.”

As you can imagine, a film about an international intelligence mission demands a lot from the actors who help it take shape. Since Wahlberg also produced union, we were eager to find out why she felt Berry would be the perfect Roxanne.

“I think there’s no reason why she can’t be the most perfect person,” Wahlberg said. “I mean her strength, her poise, her talent, her physique – I mean everything. She could do it all. Her time – comedy, everything. And you know any guy would think that, you know I certainly would and any guy that I know would think that somebody would wait 25 years hoping that she would walk in the door.”

Speaking of Berry being the total package, inquiring minds wanted to know if things got competitive between her and Wahlberg on set when it came to shooting the action scenes. It seems the actor definitely felt more compelled to try stunts with Halle around.

“When she was there, I was willing to step it up a little more,” Wahlberg admitted. “I said, ‘Well, you know, look, I’m getting older … I get it. Why don’t I let the young man who looks just like me, only 20 years younger, come in and take over? But when she’s there, you have to step up.”

Audiences should definitely resonate Of the Union message – through Roxanne and Mike, that we should trust the people who love us when they demonstrate their belief that we can achieve anything once we step out of our comfort zone.

“I think that’s where you find out what you’re really made of,” Wahlberg said BOSSIP. “I think people are constantly surprised by what they’re capable of doing if they’re actually willing to go and take a chance and bet on themselves. Everything for me is aspirational. I always try to be the best version of myself and I constantly encourage people to just take the time to bet on you. What I don’t want people to do is live in regret. I am living proof that anything is possible if you are willing to go out and do the work.”
