Tragic landslides claim lives in Western Nepal

Seven people from two families were killed in separate incidents of landslides triggered by relentless rains in western Nepal in the past 24 hours, according to police reports on Monday.

Four members of a family in Bajhang district met a tragic end when a landslide swept away their house in Bungal-10 municipality on Sunday evening. The dead included 50-year-old Kali Dhami, her daughter-in-law and her young grandchildren, aged six and three, police said.

Meanwhile, in Jajarkot district, a landslide early Monday morning buried a temporary shelter in Majhagaun of Nalgad-2 municipality, killing three members of a family living there after their house collapsed in last year’s earthquake.
