Meghan Markle Gives Colombian VP Mysterious ‘Personal Gift’ As She Harry Arrives In Bogotá

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry didn’t arrive in Colombia empty handed as they showered the country’s Vice President Francia Márquez with mystery gifts upon arrival.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex landed in the South American country on Thursday to begin their four-day trip.

After arriving in the capital Bogotá, the “Suits” alum, 43, presented Márquez, the first black woman to hold the position in Colombia, with a “personal gift.”

The Sussexes were personally invited by Márquez after she was moved by the pair’s Netflix documentary.

After exchanging gifts, the two women posed together for photos.

Márquez then expressed his admiration for Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

Harry, 39, and Meghan were invited to tea and coffee at Márquez’s private residence, where they sampled the traditional pan de bono – a Colombian cheese bread.

Later that day, the Sussexes were seen holding hands as they strolled around Bogota.

The couple have a busy schedule for their quick trip, which started by attending an Insight Session at a local children’s school.

The couple also attended a summit with experts, activists and community members working to create more positive online environments – something Harry and Meghan were passionate about.

Later on Friday, the pair will meet with students before attending a lunch hosted by Márquez.

They will end the day with a meeting with the participants of the Invictus Games in Colombia.

Notably, Colombia became the first South American country to join Harry’s Invictus Games, which it launched in 2014 for both active and retired members from around the world who are wounded, injured or ill.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also visit Cartagena and Cali during their trip.

The trip comes just days after the couple’s chief of staff, Josh Kettler, resigned after just three months on the job.

The reason for Kettler’s departure was revealed on Wednesday – just a day before he was due to accompany the Sussexes on their trip to Colombia.

The visit comes just months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to Nigeria.
