A woman died after climbing into the City Hall’s air conditioning cooling system

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx — A woman died after falling into an air conditioning cooling system at City Hall around 6 a.m. Friday morning

A city employee heard a noise coming from the chiller and discovered the deceased woman inside the unit.

City Manager Peter Zanoni says city officials reviewed surveillance footage and the woman snuck into a closed area of ​​City Hall after an employee left the location. Then he climbed into the large, silver air-conditioning cooler.

Investigators are working to determine how the woman was killed, and Zanoni says because of the situation, City Hall employees are being encouraged to work from home.

Zanoni said the first floor of City Hall is still cool; however, the other floors begin to heat up as the cooling system is down due to the investigation.
