Five free and cheap things to do as a family in Middle Tennessee | Community

If you’re in Murfreesboro next week, there are some great free events along the way: one at Middle Tennessee State University celebrating MTSU athletics fans and another celebrating India at the Discovery Center right next door to MTSU. . Lucky Ladd Farms hosts a full day for kids who want to test their building and farming skills. Your family can sign up to run a 5K that takes you to the field at Nissan Stadium. And if your little ones are still super little, CoComelon and friends will also be downtown this week.

As part of our series on cheap free things to do with the family, here’s our weekly roundup of places to spend time together in the coming week:

MTSU Fan Day

Middle Tennessee State University is scheduled to host its annual MTSU Fan Day on Aug. 24 at Floyd Stadium on campus. Athletes from all of MTSU’s sports programs will be on site and people will be signing autographs and more. The event is free to the public and also includes giveaways, inflatables, face painting and balloon art.

Children’s fun and farm equipment festival

Lucky Ladd Farms Construction and Farm Equipment Festival is August 24th. The event offers a chance to dress up and check out real-life cars on a farm. Lucky Ladd has built a specially designed construction site for kids to operate and maneuver authentic mini excavators while learning to dig, move and dump dirt. The festival also includes hands-on activity centers where kids can hone other trade skills: wield hammers, operate engines and tackle plumbing challenges with other kids.

Discover India Day (Free Day)

The Discovery Center is hosting a free entry day that will also celebrate India. The Murfreesboro Science Center will have several special items on site as part of this day – starting at 9am and ending at 4pm on August 24th.

Titans Foundation 5K

The Titans Foundation 5K invites families to run to the finish line at Nissan Stadium on August 24th. Each runner will receive a t-shirt and ticket to the Dec. 8 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Post-race activities include refreshments, appearances by the Titans Cheerleaders, Blue Crew and T-Rac and an awards ceremony.

CoComelon Party Time

An immersive CoComelon experience is coming to the Sheraton Grand Nashville Downtown Hotel. The event takes families into the world of CoComelon with a Cuddly Corner, activity and coloring center, lighting and dance floor and visits with JJ, Cody and more. It takes place between August 23-25.
