“AGT” judge Sofía Vergara offers the first straight pass to the finale

In the first live shows of the Season 19 quarterfinals, America has talent judge Sofía Vergara was moved to deliver a historic Golden Buzzer.

The four-piece Hakuna Matata acrobats had the audience gasping as they climbed on top of each other while balancing in seemingly impossible ways. (See them in the video below.)

“This is definitely one of the most ambitious acts I’ve seen AGT” Vergara said. “I mean, I can tell the difference from the audition. You guys deserve to be here.”

She added that she didn’t think they would need help from anyone, but then stepped up to make sure the act went straight to the finals of the competition to win $1 million. Due to a new rule, each judge will have a Live Show Golden Buzzer on a designated night of this round, making Vergara’s decision the first of its kind.

And the one Modern family alun was not the only judge impressed by them.

“This was one of the most difficult and dangerous acts I’ve seen in a live show,” said Simon Cowell. “And I really mean it: it felt like you arrived.”

Heidi Klum said the “incredible” performers had her attention “all the way through”.

Despite all the applause, Howie Mandel gave a mixed review.

“I agree with you Simon. They have arrived and three of them are carry-ons,” Mendel said, referring to the fact that one member of the group was constantly supporting the others. He also said, however, that he didn’t think people understood how hard it was to do what the group had just done.

The show also featured the return of Arshiya, the teenage contortionist who scared the entire audience in the season premiere. And her last performance was even crunchier and creepier.

Only three acts from the night will go forward, depending on which one has the most votes from viewers. (They can be broadcast in the app or at AGT The results will be revealed in a live episode on Wednesday at 8 pm ET / 7 pm Central on NBC.

Every Tuesday until September 3rd, a new group of contestants who made it through the audition process will compete in the live quarterfinals. Those who survive the fan vote will move on to the live semi-finals, where 12 acts will compete for one of the six final open spots. The final round, featuring the six semi-final winners and the four Live Show Golden Buzzer winners, will take place on Tuesday 17 September, with the results revealed in the final show on Tuesday 24 September.
