13 ‘Stranger Things’ filming locations around Georgia, including 3 from season 5

The wait for the fifth – and reportedly final – season of the hit Netflix show “Stranger Things” has been slooooowwww in coming: Season 4 debuted in 2022. After delays from film industry labor disputes, the fifth season has been filming in the Atlanta area since the beginning of 2024 and is expected to continue through the end of the year. The final season is expected to premiere in summer 2025, with a specific date to be announced.

The episodes are expected to be different this time around. Maya Hawke, who plays Robin in the show, said on the “Podcrushed” podcast that the episodes are “very long” and the season consists of “basically eight movies.”

If you’re tired of waiting for “Stranger Things” to return to the screen, you can take a drive to Georgia and visit some of the filming sites.

Three sites where the cast and crew have been spotted filming include:

1. WSQK radio station set, Chattahoochee Hills, Ga. The radio station, new for Season 5, was built in a field off Hutchinson Ferry Road near Cochran Mill according to fan reports.

2. Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountain, Ga., was used as a set for the “Upside Down,” another dimension in the show. According to HawkinsAVClub on reddit, the woodsy area was spotted with all kinds of Demogorgon tentacles wrapped around the trees. Make of that what you will….

Also in Stone Mountain, you can drive past 5280 Moore Street, which serves as the exterior of the Hargrove home.

3. Creel House, Rome, Ga. The gorgeous Second Empire-style Claremont House will once again appear in “Stranger Things,” according to the Rome News-Tribune. The 7,000-square-foot home located at 906 E. Second Avenue was built in 1882 for Hamilton “Colonel” Yancey and Florence Julia Peterson Yancey. The Yancey family owned it until the early 1960s. Drive-by viewing only.

While on your tour, check out filming locations from the first four seasons in several small towns.

4. Butts County Probate Court, 25 Third Street, Jackson, Ga. Downtown Jackson serves as the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. In some early scenes, the young characters in the show can be seen riding through the streets of Jackson. Butts County Probate Court serves as the Hawkins Public Library.
