As an editor who specializes in luxury, I am deeply spoiled in that I get to be exposed to some of the very finest quality pieces in life, everything from high tech wellness and beauty devices, homewares, and of course, fashion. One of the many results from this exposure is that I am a total cashmere snob. I can tell almost immediately when touching a piece if it’s worth it or not. As with many other textiles, the fabric really does tell all. So when I got my hands on my very first NakedCashmere sweater a few months ago, I knew I was dealing with something different.

Ever since I opened the box it came in a few months ago, I have carried my Tammy Crewneck Sweater with me on multiple trips, kept it with me to wear at the office, to the movies, and at home in my AC. Really the only time I haven’t toted it with me somewhere was because it was at the dry cleaners. In fact, as I write, I am wearing it in the T&C office where the AC is indeed blasting. It’s not lightweight per se, but it’s also not too thick. It’s the perfect weight for a range of temperatures, and I can attest that it has kept me comfortable on many a frigid flight.

The difference with this NakedCashmere piece is in the details. Sure, I love the green colorway I own, but really it’s the sumptuous and soft 7-gauge cashmere knit that sets it apart from the rest. The hand-finished sweater has a ribbed trim at the waist, neckline, and wrists, which has remained elastic and not at all warped after months of heavy use. For me this is key, as the dead giveaway for quality is when a piece doesn’t hold its shape. Same thing goes with pilling. With any knit you’re going to get some, but it definitely shows much more significantly if the quality isn’t there. However, with this sweater in particular, I have noticed that there is barely any pilling after months of wear, even on the underside of the arms which tends to receive a bit more friction. I consider myself really, really impressed.

Another thing I love about this piece is that it is slightly rounded in the body and then nips at the hips, so when layered it never looks lumpy, but it also gives a suggestion of shape to the frame. Win win. Further proof that the crewneck is a classic, but this one for sure deserves the title. If you’re not sold on the colorways, or perhaps want a lower gauge (thicker) knit, NakedCashmere’s Eden crewneck looks positively yummy for when it gets colder. But one thing I know for sure is that the Tammy is perfect for shoulder season, and with almost daily wear, I’ll be keeping it in my rotation until I have to upgrade to some heavier knits later this year.
