Gang member convicted in 2020 Hartford club shootings

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – A man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2020 Hartford club shooting.

Carl Jones, who went by the name “MOB,” learned his fate Thursday, according to Vanessa Roberts Avery, the U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut.

The 43-year-old’s official sentence was 120 months, followed by three years of supervised release.

According to evidence revealed during his trial and in court documents, in the early morning hours of February 16, 2020, Jones was involved in a gang-related shooting incident inside the Majestic Lounge on Franklin Avenue in Hartford.

During the incident, Jones, a member of Los Solidos, chased down, shot and wounded fleeing gang member Joshua Saez and a second unintended victim.

Saez had just shot another gang member, Marquis Treadwell, Treadwell’s girlfriend, and a third unintended victim.

Treadwell later succumbed to his injuries.

Avery said Jones used a .40-caliber Glock semiautomatic handgun, which he took from Treadwell after the initial shooting by Saez. Jones fled the scene with the firearm, but Hartford police later recovered it from a vehicle on Lawrence Street during an unrelated drug investigation in September 2021.

Jones’ criminal record included convictions for narcotics, assault, theft and failure to appear.

Jones has been in federal custody since June 9, 2022. On August 23, 2023, a jury found him guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon.

Saez is serving a state sentence for Treadwell’s murder and the assault of Treadwell’s girlfriend.
