Tragedy strikes as two 9-year-old children drown in Maharashtra

In a heartbreaking tragedy, two nine-year-old boys drowned in a sinkhole in Maharashtra’s Gondia district, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Alok Bhagchand Bisen and Prince Kishore Rahangdale, both students of Class 3, lost their lives in Dasgaon village while returning home from school on Tuesday. Bisen accidentally fell into a water-filled pit on the side of the road while trying to relieve himself, and Rahangdale, in an attempt to save his friend, also drowned.

A third friend, too shocked to speak, went home in silence, leaving families and locals to discover the boys’ bodies during a frantic evening search. Authorities handed over the bodies to their families after a post-mortem examination, according to an official of the Rawanvadi police station.
