Guardiola reveals fitness concerns for Haaland

Pep Guardiola says Erling Haaland is “not comfortable” and has “mistakes” after the Manchester City manager substituted the striker at half-time for the second pre-season game in a row.

Haaland managed just 45 minutes of Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to AC Milan and had to be withdrawn at half-time on Wednesday as Man City lost to Barcelona on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

“Erling is not comfortable,” said Guardiola. “We don’t want to take risks. But sooner or later he has to step up with practice and minutes.

“The season is there, around the corner. He’s got trouble, he’s muscular, we don’t want to take a chance and lose him for three weeks or a month. That would be a problem.”

How will FPL managers react?

Haaland’s fitness issues could prompt a number of managers to review their Fantasy Premier League plans.

The Norwegian is FANTASY’s most expensive player at £15m and is currently owned in just 36% of squads.

Those who were planning to pay the big price may now have second thoughts and look to invest the money in other areas of their team.
