WTOC is partnering with Second Harvest for a food drive to help those affected by Debby

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Hundreds of people are now out of their homes due to flooding after Tropical Storm Debby hit our area. Now, WTOC is working with local organizations to give them the help they need.

Non-perishable food and cleaning supplies for families beginning the recovery process after the historic flooding that hit our area.

“Once we get these donations from the stores, we’ll bring them back to our facility, we’ll bring in volunteers to help sort and repackage,” Stephania Brown said.

Stephania Brown, director of marketing at Second Harvest, says the donations will go directly to those families in need.

“Bug spray, baby wipes, anything that someone who’s being moved from home or in their home but doesn’t have electricity can use very easily,” Brown said.

It’s a team effort. With WTOC, Second Harvest, Kroger, Food Lion…and now you. Donation boxes like this can be found at your local Food Lion or Kroger grocery store.

“Every little bit helps,” Brown said.

And other organizations, such as the United Way of the Coastal Empire … say they are also working to get help for the affected families. Kimberly Waller, President and CEO, stopping by today to make a donation of her own.
