Naga Munchetty was recognized as one of the top earners at BBC this year. She has been an integral part of BBC Breakfast, delivering the national news bulletins since 2010 and was rewarded with a pay rise last year.

Naga saw a substantial £10,000 pay rise for her stellar performance hosting the Thursday to Saturday morning show, as well as her contributions to her Radio 5 Live and Panorama shows. The latest report puts her annual salary between £335,000 – £339,999.

Naga’s status as the BBC’s fourth highest paid woman puts her in esteemed company alongside BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball, Question Time’s Fiona Bruce and The One Show’s Lauren Laverne.

It’s also worth noting that Naga’s earnings dwarf those of her BBC Breakfast co-star Charlie Stayt, who earns between £190,000 and £194,999.

Furthermore, it was revealed that Jon Kay is the second highest earner in the squad, bringing in a salary of between £225,000 – £229,999.

Meanwhile, Sally Nugent, who hosts alongside Jon every Monday to Wednesday, received £195,000 – £199,999.

Naga has an estimated net worth of $12 million (about £9.9 million), according to celebritiesbuzz.

Naga was one of the BBC employees who complained against the corporation for equal pay in 2017.

In an interview with The Guardian, Naga confirmed that she and her co-stars were paid equally after the complaint.

She said: “The result is that all four main BBC Breakfast presenters are paid equally for their work.

“There are four main presenters presenting three days a week, we do the same job, we have the same level of responsibility, the same expectation; we should be paid the same.”

As well as her role on BBC Breakfast with co-star Charlie Stayt, Naga hosts the mid-morning slot on Radio 5 Live.

She took over the role from Emma Barnett in October 2020

Gary Lineker and Zoe Ball remained the biggest winners overall as the Match of the Day host stayed in the same £1,350,000 – £1,354,999 bracket.

The former footballer’s salary sparked controversy among viewers, leading to him taking a voluntary £400,000 pay cut after topping the wage list for the sixth consecutive year.

The pay of the BBC’s top stars has remained largely static, but News at Ten host Huw Edwards has become the BBC’s highest-paid journalist.

He received a £25,000 rise in exchange for hosting a series of news specials, including coverage of the Queen’s funeral.

This took Huw’s total salary at the BBC to £435,000, pushing him into fourth place on the overall pay list, despite not being on air for most of the year. He is just behind Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer on £445,000 and ahead of BBC Northern Ireland presenter Stephen Nolan on £415,000.
