IHSAA Football Preview: Everything you need to know for the 2024 season

Schools listed in alphabetical order.

Avon

“Man, probably (senior defensive lineman) Fawzy Omotoso. He is quite strong.” — MR Enoch Atewogbola

Beech Grove

“I got my boy Mikey (Moore). It’s coming back this year. He is my referee. He’s 6-5, 375. He’ll win that one for sure. He is strong. Squats six boards.” — RB Jeremiah Lee

Ben Davis

“We have a referee called Kamsi (Michael-Igbo). He’s crazy strong. I think it has banks like 350 or something crazy. Or Isaiah White. He might actually have it. I would do a few (rounds)”. — RB Alijah Price

“Isaiah White. He puts on 400 pounds. I don’t touch him at all. I’ll leave it to him, easy. I’m a confident guy and I believe in myself, but for this I’m going to make a tough pass.” — DB/WR Mark Zackery IV

“I think I’ll take it. Probably my teammate Kamsi (Michael-Igbo would be the toughest competition) because he is strong.” — MR Isaiah White

Bishop Chatard

“I would say (senior lineman) Jacob Arteaga or (senior linebacker) Eddie Benson. I might throw Lucas Tremain in there. (I would make) the Elite Eight, maybe the Final Four.” — TE Harrison Forestry

Jesuit Brebeuf

“I’m going to Jaden Curtis. He plays defensive tackle and right guard. He’s a big guy.” — QB Maverick Geske

“Jaden Curtis. One hundred percent. He’s a big guy. He comes out undefeated. Nobody beats him.” — WR Taylor Clark

Brownsburg

“I. One hundred percent. One thousand percent. It would be between me and my friend Jackson (Sergeant). He is a good arm wrestler. He has really big hands, but I think I could take him for sure. We would be delighted to actually do that. We’ll have to try that. It would be like a huge duel.” — MR Mason Keifer

Carmel

“I want to go with Evan Parker. He’s the biggest guy on the team and the strongest guy. I should go with him or Ozzy (Pollard). Ozzy is up there too. I think that’s a little championship game right there. But I’d probably say Evan comes out on top. I will definitely go to the final four.” – QB Anthony Coellner

“It has to be me or Ozzy Pollard. That guy lifts like a tank. We are constantly competing lift by lift to make sure we stay on top. I’ll take it because I’m big on me, but he’ll give me a run for my money for sure.” — OL Evan Parker

“I’d like to say me, but Evan (Parker) is a little bit stronger, so I’d probably have to say Evan, but I’d definitely be second.” — OL/TE Ozzy Pollard

“I have to go with my boy Evan Parker. He’s got that jerk in him and he’s put up a little fight.” – DB Jimmie Winbush Jr.

Cathedral

“I. Every single person on my team knows I’ll win arm wrestling, one on one, anything like that. The toughest competition is probably Manny Egan. He just has that crazy. He doesn’t like to lose, so if I was like here for him, he’d get mad and start cursing or something. Then he would simply gain from it. He’s that kind of guy.” — RB Jalen Bonds

Center Grove

“Probably CJ Scifres just because he’s the biggest out there, so I’ll have to give it to him.” — WR Brevin Holubar

Crispus Attucks

“Probably my bodyguard, Amiel Falk. He is a different breed. I’m a little bit up there.” — RB Darrell Taylor

Decatur Central

“I’ll go with Jordyn Shanks or (senior linebacker) Maurice Carter. Both defensive referees. Very strong. Probably one of the two. (I would make) the quarter-finals.” — QB Bo Polston

“I’ll go with (senior defensive tackle) Maurice Carter. Either Maurice or (N’po) Dodo. Those two are pretty strong.” —K Ashton Vogel

The fishermen

“Probably Jev Hutton. That guy is super cool. He’s crazy strong. As for those big guys, they’re going for it, man.” — WR JonAnthony Hall

Franklin Central

“My offensive coordinator. — Coach Clev. Mike Clevenger. He is not of this planet. He is one of the most powerful and intimidating guys I have ever seen. So definitely Coach Clev… I would definitely go far in the tournament. We do grip strength stuff. We do tours where you have to hold your beards and stuff like that. We do plate holding challenges and I usually do pretty well at those, so I could probably hold my own there.” — QB Nevan Tutterow

Greenfield-Central

“Probably Ryan Lee. Just brute force. I’ve got power, but you’re going up against the referees and I just can’t compete.” — QB Dallas Freeman

Hamilton Southeast

“We have a lot of strong kids on our team. I would have to say maybe Cam Gorin. I would go far, but I don’t know… he’s very strong.” — QB Chandler Weston

“That’s me. I’m sure I’m winning that. There’s no question. (Mason Alexander), maybe he’s in the top 100. Not top 20 or anything. He’s all the way.” — OL Cameron Gorin

“Me. What? I win this. I don’t care if we have big guys, fat guys, I always win this. But if I’m being realistic, if we count the coaches, probably our special teams coach (Garrett Hudson) is a huge player (other than me ) probably Cam (Gorin). — DB Mason Alexander

Lapel

“Either (senior offensive lineman) Karson Kinsinger or (senior wide receiver/safety) Rylie Hudson. Rylie is super competitive.” — QB Devin Craig

Lawrence Central

“I should probably give it to my teammate Bryan (Robertson, a defensive lineman). He is strong. He’s huge and he’s cocky. I will give it to her. He would probably be an interior d-lineman. I don’t know if I could compete with them.” — TE Nizyi Davis

North Lawrence

“Definitely not me. Probably (offensive lineman) Jalen Goldsmith or (defensive lineman) Marcus Jackson. I’m not up there yet.” —WR Davion Chandler

“Probably our lineman. His name is Marcus Jackson. big strong guy. Him or Anthony Ludington. One of these.” — DB Jerome Smith

“Anthony Ludington (senior defensive end and Miami of Ohio commit). He is quite strong.” — RB Izayveon Moore

Lutheran

“I would like to tell myself, honestly. Cam (McHaney) left (transferred to IMG Academy). … would win handily. I don’t know. I think humbly, I do.” — QB Jackson Willis

Mt. Vernon

“He is one of my referees. His name is Preston Fox. He wins, 100 percent. I think I’m getting pretty far. I think they are in the top three. I don’t think I beat two of my referees. But I make the top three easily.” — RB Joliba Brogan

New Palestine

“I. The safest. Is it Coach Ralph or not? If it is, then no. Coach Ralph, 100%. He is strong. I saw him press on the bench. It makes me look small.” — MR Michael Thacker

Noblesville

“Izzy here (Israel Oladipupo) thinks he got it. But I don’t know. They might have it. Izzy or maybe one of our players. O-line boys with short arms. I feel like they might catch Izzy. I think one of our o-line guys could really take it. Izzy will call his name and think it’s him, but when the moment comes, it won’t be him (laughs).” — TE Aiden Brewer

“I take this all day. There will definitely be some o-line guys. The only person I can really think of is probably Matteo Di Rosa. He’s the only person I can really think of. Otherwise, I take it all day. I feel like I’m somewhere up there in power. I fought my father and lost that one. But I definitely know what my power boosts to, and I’ll definitely beat most of these kids.” — LB Israel Oladipupo

I know that

“Cole Davis. Our guard. A really big guy. I would go a little far. Third to last round.” — LB Ife Adeoba

Warren Central

“Among teammates? I’d probably say “Geek Freak” right there. Cam Herron, “the weird nerd.” He’s strong in the weight room, but on the field he would never come outside with me and Tyrone (Burrus). That’s how I feel. I don’t think it would ever come out (laughs). But he will win arm wrestling. He’s just a strong guy.” — MR Damien Shanklin

“I would say Cam Herron. He’s a big guy. He’s a musclehead. That’s it. But the only time he comes outside (in practice) is on the pull and I just slide right under. As soon as he thinks to go that way, I’m already past him.” — MR Tyrone Burrus

“Definitely me. I have the biggest (weightlifting) numbers at Warren Central. There is no question.” — OL Cameron Herron

Westfield

“I’m going to take Isaac Cole at center. It’s just ridiculously strong. I don’t even understand. But I take it. I would last five or six seconds (against him). I would stay here for a while.” — WR Gabe Aramboles

“I’d like to say, but honestly, either our left tackle (junior) Malachi Mills or center (senior) Isaac Cole.” — OL Avery Huggins

“One of our two greatest referees. I would say Isaac Cole or Job Mavrick. One of them two. They are very strong liners. I’d go pretty far, but they’re up there for sure.” — LB Mikeah Webster

Whiteland

“Jordan Palmer. He is a stud. Him or maybe an o-lineman, Jonah McIntosh. Any, but probably Jordan Palmer.” — RB Slate Valentine

Zionsville

“Definitely, Brody Aeschliman. He is a SAM linebacker. Strong fighter. I could easily win a few rounds. I would probably end up in the top four.” —WR Eugene Hilton

“I would definitely say so. Or honestly my brother (Hank). I think he will go to state this year for wrestling and plays as well for sure. But I mean, I beat him and he’s the good fighter on the team, so probably me. But I’m not sure. Maybe fat people. They might beat me because I’m not as big as them.” — DB Max Phenicia
