HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — A Hammond woman was arrested for impersonating an attorney to gain access to two inmates at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Friday, July 19th.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the woman, 44-year-old Connie Jones, allegedly presented herself to detectives as an attorney for two inmates who were rebooked for additional charges.

The detectives, being familiar with Jones from their investigation of the two inmates, knew that she was neither a lawyer nor a paralegal in Louisiana or in the United States.

After confirming other misrepresentation methods from Jones, she was arrested.

While Jones was being booked, detectives discovered there were people waiting in a car in the parking lot. An additional arrest was made after detectives engaged the individuals and discovered one was carrying synthetic marijuana.
