Raw milk sold locally was found to contain E. coli; ag department warns consumers

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture announced Tuesday, Aug. 14, that it has detected E. coli bacteria in Meadowview Jerseys brand raw milk sold locally.

The agriculture department said the affected dairy products would have been purchased between August 5 and August 12, with a sell-by date of August 19.

Shigatoxin-producing E. coli bacteria were detected in the milk during pathogen routing testing, the agriculture department said. Milk was sold in plastic gallons, plastic and half-gallon bottles, plastic quarts, and plastic pint containers.
