Police body cam shows the scene after a fatal stabbing in Green Township

GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) – Police body camera video shows the scene after a brutal double stabbing of an elderly couple in Green Township last week.

Kenneth Mortimer, 40, faces one count of murder over the death of his 74-year-old mother, Barbara Mortimer, and one count each of attempted murder and felonious assault in the attack on his father, Thomas Mortimer , aged 75 years.

Kenneth Mortimer is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center in lieu of $2 million bond.

Body camera video shows officers found one of the victims, the suspect’s father, bloodied and sitting on his front porch.

“Who did this?” an officer asks.

“My son,” the victim replied.

“OK, what’s his name?” asked the officer.

“Kenneth,” he said.

Thomas Mortimer was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Green Township police say the attack happened around 4 p.m. Friday at the couple’s home in the 3300 block of Palmhill Lane.

Mortimer argued with his mother when she told him she could not stay the night at their family home.

She urged his father, Thomas Mortimer, to call psychiatric services and the row turned physical.

Mortimer grabbed a knife from the kitchen, walked up to his parents, who were sitting on the couch, and began stabbing them, police wrote in an affidavit.

His mother ran out the front door, where her son tackled her to the ground. He dragged her back inside and stabbed her multiple times, the affidavit states.

Kenneth Mortimer fled the scene, but Cincinnati police found him a short time later.

Cincinnati police later found Mortimer in Mt. Airy.

He was taken to the Green Township Police Department, where officers say he confessed to stabbing his parents.

“We read him his rights because he already spilled stuff right away,” one officer said.

Mortimer was arrested last year in October on charges of public indecency.

He violated his parole in January for “failure to comply with a special corrective thought condition,” court records show.

Court documents say he was taken to the Green Township Police Department, where he confessed to stabbing his parents.

He is scheduled to appear in court on August 15.
