Miami’s PIG event is back – this time with pizza, not pork

Making a big comeback after five years, Jeremiah Bullfrog PIG’s epic event is back. In its 11th iteration, PIG, which originally stood for Pork Is Good, changes things up and now stands for Pizza Is Good.

An event that brings together some of Miami’s best chefs, this new edition will feature an exciting lineup of pizzas and pizza-inspired dishes in a fun, casual setting that gives attendees the chance to not only enjoy each creation, but also to have the ability to interact. with the chefs who present them.

Known as the man behind Miami’s first food truck, Gastropod, and as Rick Ross’ former personal chef, Jeremiah Bullfrog launched his PIG (Pork is Good) event over a decade ago as a way to celebrate all things porcine with fellow Miami chefs.

“Pork Is Good has had a great ten-year run of events,” Bullfrog says of the event that originally started as a way to preview its Gastropod menu. “And after all these years of pork being in the spotlight, I feel like it’s time to change things up — especially since there are only so many pork dishes we can go with.” Recalling some of his past dishes, including several variations of carbonara and even an ice cream filled with pork.

“I always knew I wanted to get away from the pork base, so we started Duck Duck Goose as a way to branch out into something a little different,” Bullfrog says. Another event that went really well and had some fun racing. But this time, Bullfrog says he’s excited for pizza to take center stage. Which makes total sense, since his latest concept, Square Pie City, is a Detroit-style pizza place.

On Sunday, November 3rd from 3-7pm, Bullfrog will bring together an impressive roster of chef friends at Freehold Studios (Square Pie City’s new home) in Wynwood for an afternoon of pizza.

Chefs include, but are not limited to: Niven Patel (Ghee & Erba), Babe’s Meat Counter, Vice City Pizza, Carey Hynes and Justin Flit (ViceVersa), Brad Kilgore (Pizza Freak), Steve Santana (OffSite) and more. Bullfrog says it’s also working on creating some really interesting collaborations where it will pair pizza makers with chefs who don’t normally make pizza for some fun and unexpected dishes. Additionally, there will be several chefs on hand serving up lighter, refreshing fare like crudo and more.

“We love this event and one of the best parts about it is how it brings the community together and I feel like that’s something we haven’t done enough of lately,” says Bullfrog. “It’s so important to have that time to hang out and catch up with our peers.” It’s a welcome type of event, years ago (dare we say, pre-pandemic) events like this took place in Miami on an almost monthly basis, consistently bringing the Miami hospitality community together for fun.

“Sometimes you just lose focus and it’s all about the action of making the event happen,” says Bullfrog. “But my whole goal with PIG is to have a fairly informal event where we can meet and connect with our regular locals — with a chance to enjoy those one-on-one moments.”

The $60 general admission ticket includes all you can eat pizza for the duration of the event. In addition, there is a VIP ticket offer that includes drinks and early access. Tickets for PIG 11 can be purchased here.
