Sir Rod Stewart shared his “deepest regrets” on social media as he addressed the reason behind the cancellation of his show.

The rock icon was scheduled to play the final dates of his 200th show, The Hits, at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, but pulled out due to ill health.

Rod has been on stage supporting his 13th residency since July 24, but had to end the shows prematurely after revealing he had “strep throat”.

Addressing his 1.4 million followers on Instagram, the 79-year-old wrote: “So sorry to miss your 200th celebration.

“Most people can work with strep, but obviously not me. I’m absolutely blown away.”

He continued, “I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Despite the cancellation, Rod said: “Thankfully we will now be back in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.”

However, this sparked a crisis among fans as the Hot Legs star was due to close the shows with this performance on Wednesday.

Weighing in on the comments, @lisenicolewall fumed: “Dear Rod, this is the third time we’ve tried to meet and the third time in a row the show has been cancelled.”

A devastated @phillymariepresley1 asked: “Got tickets for tonight. Are they refundable? I am heartbroken. I wish you well.”

Addressing Rod’s recent controversial comments about Donald Trump, @shawtraceelkins fumed: “That’s what you get for the orange man comment Sir Rod.”

While @adgonzr wrote: “Your health comes first Sir Rod. Don’t apologize. I wish you a speedy recovery!”

As @onyxmaun said: “Can’t mess with strep! It can be ugly. We’d rather get you healthy to sing for us for many more years!”
