Rob Schneider says he was banned from Canada, Late Night TV

Comedian Rob Schneider said Tucker Carlson he was blacklisted from Canada and late-night television because of his conservative politics.

“You got punished by the Canadians for telling naughty jokes,” Carlson noted during a lengthy chat with Schneider for the latest episode of The Tucker Carlson Show.

Carlson was referring to Schneider having a set at a June charity event in Canada cut short after he offended organizers with jokes about vaccines and being trans. The organization ended up apologizing after the complaints became public.

“They actually went after me and it didn’t hurt at all,” Schneider joked.

According to Schneider, the joke that led to the backlash is one where he pretends to be a father and pushes his son to pretend to identify as female so he can play and then dominate in athletics. First Saturday Night Live the cast member offered no apology for the humor and insisted that people were laughing.

“I’m glad I did, and I’ll do it again if you’ll let me back into the country!” he said.

“Which I suppose they won’t?” Carlson replied.

“I will not be allowed back into the country – for ‘hate speech’, for jesting!” Schneider said.

“And you’re not allowed on late night TV either?” Carlson then asked.

“I’m not invited,” Schneider said.

The comedian said his criticism of vaccines and conservative views also led to a light ban from late-night television, but claimed he didn’t mind because he saw the format as close to today’s political propaganda.

“Much of late-night television is political indoctrination with comedic imposition. It’s not as much like comedy as encouraging rhetoric and attacking a certain half of the country,” he said.

Schneider criticized late-night comedians as being interchangeable in their humor and viewpoints.

“You can literally replace dialogue with jokes from one guy late to another and then put them in this guy’s mouth and there’s just no individual point of view because it’s really ideologically captured,” he said.
